Lazy Day
Today was my first "day off." I've been working really hard at my new job, and doing more data analysis and statistical programming in 2 weeks than I have in my 1 year graduate career thus far. My boss said that these last few weeks were going to be the, "calm before the storm," so she recommended that I take a "me day" today and enjoy the city. I had all these big plans: to convince a friend of mine to play hookey and go hiking in Marin County, or to go to an art exhibit, or another friend recommended checking out Berkeley or Sausalito. What did I do? Slept in until 12 noon. Then my friend Joy cooked me a Thai omelet while I stayed in my PJs. Took a shower then sat on my ass surfing the web for the next few hours until dinner was ready. My roommate's girlfriend cooked the most amazing dinner tonight. Seared tuna with onions, asparagus, mashed potatoes, and a red salad with manchego cheese. Awesome. What a great day off. Even though I didn't get a chance to really explore the Bay Area today, I thought that my lazy day really helped me settle into the city. Nothing makes you feel more at home, then a well-deserved day off of work.
